Why did you choose your stage name?
Lila was given to me by my grandmother and Noire means black in French. It came together perfectly because my real name also starts with L, I am primarily French Canadian, and I tend to gravitate to the dark side of things
Dance accomplishment you’re most proud of:
Not only returning to dance after 20 years away from it, but returning with a vengeance - dancing every day of the week, performing multiple parts in the Nutcracker, and, of course, the amazing Sparkling Diamonds
What are your hobbies outside of dance?
Playing the piano and writing music, arts and crafts (primarily pressed flowers, collage, decoupage), running my botanical art side hustle, journaling, puzzles, web design, reading, and somehow a full-time job on top of it
What are your guilty pleasures?
90 Day Fiancé & all of its spin-offs, putting my phone on Do Not Disturb
What is your most prized possession?
My trunk of journals that I've been keeping since third grade, there are almost 100 filled books. Similarly, the transcribed sheet music of my original songs that I keep in a water/fire-proof box
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
genuine, enigmatic, sarcastic
What are your biggest pet peeves? Oblivious drivers, the manosphere, loud chewing, being startled, words like "awesomesauce" and "yummy"
What is your fantasy dream job (if time, money, location, and reality were not a factor)?
Traveling photojournalist, living with and documenting the lives of different African tribal civilizations
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
Unrealistically, North Sentinel Island, but only if I could be invisible and observe. Realistically, my bucket list item is Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe
If you could time travel to any time period, what time period would you choose?
Somewhere in the dystopian future when humanity has almost fully destroyed itself just to see how it all turned out and be happy I can leave because I'm a time traveler
Who do you admire or look up to?
Michelle Obama, Sarah Grimké (19th century abolitionist & suffragette). I also fangirl for Iliza Shlesinger, Lainey Molnar, Yasmin Benoit, Anna Marie Tendler, Alyssa Edwards
What advice would you give your younger self?
Don't waste time settling for mediocrity, whether it's your own endeavors or the character of people around you
What could you talk about non-stop for hours?
Raccoons, my time and memories of living in Ghana
What is something you’d like to learn to do someday?
Don't maintain toxic relationships that don't fulfill my soul as soon as the red flags appear instead of exhausting myself for longer than needed
What do you consider your most important values?
Authenticity, honesty, fairness, making people feel safe and seen in my presence
What is something guaranteed to make you smile? Drag shows, memes, raccoons being whimsical, stand-up comedy
What’s the nicest compliment you’ve ever received?
"She is quiet, but she is very powerful" and "You're the most creative person I know." Also Vera D'amour listing me as the person she admires!
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
They are usually surprised to find out I'm a GIS software Developer by day because all of my other passions are in the artistic expression realm
What is something you’re proud of in your life:
I'm a 20+ time published pin-up model, I won a piano scholarship out of 600 students, I typically travel solo, traveled solo to Ghana 3 times then lived there for a year doing volunteer work, I never gave up my passions and have created a life that I genuinely enjoy.
